SCEC's digital history e-book launch!

Join us to launch a free e-book highlighting more than 4 decades of campaigns and to celebrate the wins!

In 1985 there was a proposal for a chairlift to travel by steel cables to within 25m of the summit of Mt Coolum as part of a tourist development. A public meeting in Coolum attracted 450 residents and the Save Mt Coolum Committee was formed. Together with locals, the Sunshine Coast Environment Council, Yaroomba Progress Association and Fair Go Maroochy worked tirelessly to defeat the proposal. It took five years and finally Mt Coolum was formally declared a National Park in November 1990.

The Sunshine Coast Environment Council has been actively working with the community since 1980 to stop inappropriate development and destruction of the natural environment.

Join us to launch a free e-book outlining more than 4 decades of campaigns and to celebrate the wins in the shadow of Mt Coolum where it all began.

We're looking forward to seeing you so please RSVP here
