OSCAR SUNSHINE COAST REGIONAL COUNCIL MAYORAL CANDIDATE ELECTION FORUM
21 FEBRUARY 2024
Venue: MAROOCHYDORE RSL
Time: 7.00-9.15 PM
ENTRY IS FREE, BUT WE WILL ASK FOR A SMALL DONATION TO DEFRAY VENUE HIRE COSTS.
All the SCRC Mayoral candidates have accepted our invitation to participate in the Forum.
We are also delighted that Mr Tony Wellington, former Mayor of Noosa Council, will be our MC/Moderator.
The current program is as follows:
7.00 pm - Welcome to all candidates and community members
7.00 - 7.30 pm - Candidates will each have 5 minutes to introduce themselves to the audience explaining why they should be elected as Mayor.
7.30 - 9.00 pm - Candidates respond to community questions.
In order to get through as many questions as possible and to avoid duplicating questions, we are asking community members to email their questions to secretary@oscar.org.au. There may be time for other questions from the floor, but that we cannot guarantee, so please send us your questions asap.
9.00 - 9.10 - Candidates will each have 2 minutes to make their final "pitch".
9.10pm - Close of proceedings - thanks to candidates and community members for their participation.

We would like you to register your intended attendance at secretary@oscar.org.au.
At the same time you can include the question you would like answered by the candidates. Although registration is not compulsory you will need to do so if you want to lodge a question and it will assist with our seating arrangements.
The OSCAR Executive has met with 5 of the 6 Candidates individually. This followed a request by 3 candidates to meet with us and hear about OSCAR's issues, to which we agreed and then invited the remaining candidates to meet with us if they wished.
They are interesting and approachable candidates and we feel you will find the evening worthwhile.
We have issued the OSCAR survey to all candidates (Mayor and Councillor).
We have also given all candidates a copy of the key OSCAR issues for the election. We Intend to prepare and send a follow-up paper to the successful candidates relating to some more specific questions such as planning, rating and finance for discussion.
